Shettihalli Church, Near Hassan in Karnataka - Favorite Roadtrip Destination for Bikers

Located 2km from Shettihalli near Hassan - The church was built in the 1860s by the French missionaries in India. A magnificent specimen of Gothic Architecture, unfortunately falling prey to the construction of the Hemavati Dam and Reservoir in 1960.

Goosebumps. That's what happened when I walked across the narrow trail and finally set my eyes on this magnificent abandoned church ⛪. To see it half submerged by the waters of the Hemavati River is truly an experience!

✝️The church is now a favorite roadtrip destination for bikers. (The new road blockers mean that your car needs to be on the main road and you need to walk down to the river bank). The church is fully accessible during Summer where you can inspect the architecture close up. But seeing it Submerged or Floating was definitely unique !
