Just 8 km north of the famous garrison town (and now capital of Uttarakhand) of Dehradun, Walterre is a retreat, at once elegant and discreet, with some of the world's most gorgeous mountain views. The villa has four luxurious bedrooms, where the mood is stylish and leisurely. Walterre welcomes you to its breezy, sunny, open spaces, and its exquisitely designed, sumptuously welcoming interiors. Whether cosily ensconced in the lovely fire-lit drawing room or surrendering yourself to nature on the sun-splashed pillared upper verandah, you can feast your eyes on the lush greenery, the clear blue skies and the majesty of the surrounding mountains. Then you notice the sloping roofs, elegant pillars, cast-iron grills, stained-glass windows and antique wooden furniture, all adding to the unique aesthetics and charm of Walterre and its gardens. Each of the four bedrooms, has a distinct style. Antique four-poster, old-style furniture, quaint bric-a-brac and rare artworks enhance its colonial charm.Resplendent with tropical flora and fauna, Walterre's surrounding gardens are splendidly beautiful. The gardens contain several thousand trees, shrubs, creepers, plants and seasonal flowers, and are home to several hundred species of birds. The Walterre Library holds a wealth of books to suit every kind of reader. Walterre is renowned for its cuisine. Many of our dishes are made with our own homegrown vegetables, using herbs and local rice . Our emphasis is on fresh food, cooked to oriental recipes.
