About three kilometers from Mirik, it is a perfect destination for one looking for a quiet cozy house in the midst of orange groves.The brainchild of one of the local unemployed youths, but with a diploma in hotel management, has started a new venture for it is here that organic farming is practised, so one can get unadulterated menu on the table from fresh vegetables to fresh milk which in turn provides employment for other unemployed youths of the villages.Another special feature of this place is the integration of different communities. There are the Lepchas, Gurungs, Tamangs, Rais and Limboos. They have their own dialects which linguists would be attracted to. They have their own unique culture, food and lifestyle. As it is, Mirik Busty is arguably the biggest busty in the whole of Bengal. As most of the houses around the homestay practise Kabir Panth, their main life style is vegetarian food. Those of us who have never had an opportunity to delve into this religion, this is the right moment. Other religions are not far off. There is a Roman Catholic chapel run by the Salesian fathers for those wishing to spend an hour in meditative silence. There is a Buddhist monastery and a Kabir Panth math.One can experience village life in all its fullness. There are no motorable roads connecting the village houses but cobbled footpaths that would remind us of fairy tales. So, morning and evening strolls would be ideal around these houses. Moreover, hospitality is writ on the faces of the villagers who are a charming lot and would love to interact with outsiders. Evening and winter time would be a time of splendor by sitting around the fireside and chatting endlessly amidst the cool air On special request the hosts of RHS can also arrange a suite of Nepali Music and folk dance items for the guests which would be unforgettable.To top it all, an RHS experience would be COUNTRY LIFE personified.
