An Incredible Personal Collection at All About Alcohol Museum in Candolim, Goa

Right on the main road in Candolim, the signboard for All About Alcohol Museum is a little higher than your line of vision. If you are sitting in a car you just might miss it. So keep your eyes peeled. For an entry fee of just Rs 300 per person, you are taken on a guided tour of the museum and served three cocktail shooters and a shooter of house-made Feni. The whole experience is around an hour long, so plan your time accordingly.

In the museum, you will be taken through a fabulous glassware collection from all parts of the world. Curated and collected by alcohol connoisseur Nandan Kudchadkar, the glassware has been maintained pristinely and is an absolute delight. A section of the museum is dedicated to the paraphernalia used in the distillation of alcohol from across the world – some of it going back over a century. A room in the museum is dedicated to all things old in terms of crockery, bottles, cookware and implements.

An outdoor set-up shows you the whole process of Feni production and an indoor cool storage room has large glass containers of Feni, maturing for use. Some of these bottles are as old as 400 years. The room even has a sprinkler system that is turned on for cooling.

The tour ends with some Feni cocktail tasting. We sampled the Kokum and Curry leaf, Orange and Tabasco, Pineapple, mint and mustard and a round of the house Feni. Brilliant creations especially if you are a first time Feni-drinker. The next time you are in Goa, the All About Alcohol Museum in Candolim must be on your list.
