Bangalore takes Oktoberfest seriously, which is no wonder for the city with the most brewpubs in the country! Did you know that the traditional Oktoberfest in Munich runs from September 17th to October 3rd each year? And across Bangalore, to celebrate this beer festival, a host of special craft beers and German-inspired menus make an appearance. It’s time for Schnitzels, Wursts, Spaetzle, and Kuchens! 1. The Bier Library Brewery & Kitchen, Koramangala

Start your Oktoberfest at The Bier Library with a stein (yes, they have the one-litre glasses) of their Oktoberfest Lager. Order the Smoked Pork Chops in Raisin Sauce, Ham & Egg Fries, or the Chicken Knackwurst amongst the dozen special items on offer, including Baked Cheese Mushroom for the vegetarians. Be sure to end the meal either with the Vanilla Toffee Pudding or Caramelized Walnut Pie.

7. Windmills Craftworks, Whitefield

A concise and delectable menu is on offer from Windmills Craftworks for Oktoberfest. Start off with Pretzels with Assorted Mustard, dig into Weisswurst in Bacon Onion Gravy, and feed that sweet tooth with the Baumkuchen, all while sipping on a Marzen.

8. The Pump House, JP Nagar

In keeping with Oktoberfest tradition, the folks at The Pump House have lagered (conditioned) their Festbier, a Marzen, for five months! If this isn’t enough reason to visit, there is also a special menu with dishes like Spatzle and Bratkat Oven, Grilled Nuremberg Saurkrauta and Mash Potato, and Appelkuchen.

9. Toit Brewpub, Indiranagar

With an almost month-long Oktoberfest, it is no wonder that Toit has pulled out all the stops and is presenting diners with not two or even three, but five Festbiers, namely the Schwarbier, Doppelbock, Munich Dunkel, German Pilsner, and Marzen! A great way to try them all is by ordering half pints. The soft Pretzel, Rouladen, Chicken Schnitzel, and Sausage Schwartzen Platter are able company to ensure you eat well as you drink. And of course, for that sweet finish to the meal, there’s Peach Kuchen.

10. Geist Brewing Co., Rajajinagar & OMR

Start with the Festbier, a German-style Oktoberfestbier, with the suggested food pairing of Currywurst. Frikadellen, with an option of chicken or pork patties, goes well with the German Lager, Geist’s German-style Marzen. The Bienenstich is an Indo-German mix dessert that makes for an interesting end to the meal.
