Nepali lunch on July 30 at Rahul & Anuradha place
The meal is made up of starters which is served in a set menu called samay baji. It is a combination of veg and non veg starters served with a bit of beaten rice(chivda) on the side.
Our menu for this course is the following
Veg: Bhatmas Sandeko.
Piro Mustang Aaloo.
Wai wai Sandeko
Chicken choela
The main meal is always accompanied with a combination of fresh
Pickles or Aachar and chutneys.
These are different from the traditional pickles that we usually have.
The Achars being served are
Aloo ko achaar.
Golbheda lychee ko chutney(tomato and lychee sweet and spicy chutney)
Karela ko Achaar (bitter gourd pickle)
The main meal will have a combination of dry and gravy items or what we call jhol
Rice is the staple. No one likes rotis in Nepal. Puris and parathas made of maida are preferred over whole wheat.
Steamed rice.
Salad of cucumber, mooli and carrot.
Veg items
Aaloo gundruk ko khol.(Potato and fermented greens.)
Aaloo taama bodi( black eyed peas with potato and tender bamboo shoot.
Saag bhaaji(mustard greens and spinach)
Daal (urad daal)
Non veg
Bhutwa( Nepali style dry mutton)
Bangoor Tama ko jhol( pork with bamboo shoot)
Dessert
Jeri(Nepali jalebi - similar to a imarti. We will do our Indian jalebi)
Sikarni (Nepali sweetened hung yoghurt)
